Question
My boyfriend has an old silver trumpet it is engraved is engraved COUESNON STAR PARIS 75210 MADE IN FRANCE. ON THE MIDDLE BUTTON IS AN UPPER CASE "N". AND ON THE TOP WHERE YOU PUT THE MOUTHPIECE IS THE NUMBER "44". Can you tell me where I can find more info or the possible value of this.  Thank You

Answer
Starting in the 60's, Couesnon tried to expand its share in new markets, both by  building quality instruments and student models. In 1969 the factory was badly damaged by fire, destroying archives and records, including serial number records.   In 1978, the contract with Gretch to import Couesnon instruments was terminated and new Couesnon instruments have been very rare in the US since that time.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
