Antique Musical Instruments/Old Martin that I can't locate

Question
QUESTION: I simply need to find a site that will trace my serial number. The Trombone says "The Martin Committee Elkhart-Indiana U.S.A.". The case says Martin by Wurlitzer so I don't know how old it is but I just want to know it's history. The serial number is 711027.

ANSWER: This is a Martin that is no older than 1964.  People don't seem to be interesting in maintaining a list for Martins that are newer than that.

Martin had been bought out by Richardsin 1961, and then Wurlitzer, Leblanc took over the company assets in 1971.  So, I would suspect that your horn was made between 1964 and 1971.

QUESTION: I can't find a website that will show the price of this instrument, I would really appreciate a point in the right direction to a dealer or just a regular site that would list the price of this trombone.

Answer
That's wishful thinking, I'm afraid. There isn't such a site.  The closest thing to it would be eBay.  If you can find similar instruments for sale, on eBay you could get a sense of its value that way.

The desirable Martins are those that were made before the 1960s.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
