Antique Musical Instruments/Sax Education (pardon the pun)

Question
My father left me two saxophones and a clarinet. One is a Conn Pan American, the other says "Melodee" on the horn. The clarinet is a Penzel Meuller "Empire".

I am not a musician and am wondering what these horns may be good for or if they have value for someone who could use them. Thanks.

Answer
The Pan American is a student level instrument but probably is a decent instrument.  I have seen MeloDee instruments but know nothing about them.

Penzel and Meuller were in business in New York starting 1899.

I would suggest that you will probably get market value out of them by taking good pictures and auctioning them on eBay.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
