Antique Musical Instruments/Shepards crook coronet?

Question
Hello,
I have recently come across a coronet made by C G Conn Inc. I got it repaired and the shop manager at Marshall music said that he thought it might be a shepard's crook coronet. Did they make a shepard's crook coronet? If so, how old is it and is it worth anything with a new mouthpiece?

Answer
I hope that the manager didn't express himself clearly.  He should know whether it was a Shepherd's Cornet.  The back bow on one takes a wide drop to about as low as the bottom of the valves.  Conn made tons of them over a long period of time.  Age can be determined by the serial number.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
