Antique Musical Instruments/Triebert Tuba

Question
I bought a Triebert Tuba, Model number 41035 and am curious when the horn was manufactured?  Also any other information you may have about the company, etc.

Answer
The Triebert workshop was established in Paris in 1810, but they were primarily oboe makers, and are credited for being primarily responsible for the development of the modern oboe.  The company went into bankruptcy in 1881, and was bought by Gautrot Aine, who in turn was bought out by Couesnon.

It is likely that any brass instruments with the Triebert name are actually Couesnon.  Couesnon is known to have used the Triebert tradeaname into the 30's.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
