Antique Musical Instruments/Tuba

Question
I have in my possession an old, silver tuba.  It has the engraving "Beaufort American Chicago USA" on the bell, and the serial number on the middle valve casing is P3707g.  I do know that it is an Eb tuba, and it plays quite well for it's age.  It does have a few small dents, and the finish is not in good shape.  I am wanting to know if this instrument has any potential value on the market as an antique.

I previously sent this question to Chuck Mitchell on 09/10/07, but I have not heard anything, so I thought that I would contact you.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Answer
Beaufort was a model imported by Holton as a early attempt to compete in the student market. The attempt was not very successful He later decided to produce his own student line, Collegiate.

It is more of a curiosity than a respected vintage instrument.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
