Question
Have a Conn cornet purchased in 1940. It is unusual in that it has a bell with out a wire ring ie. it has a feather edge. Also fluted valve casings. the bell has fancy engravings. Horn is in very good playable condition. What might be the value range? Thank you.  Warren

Answer
I only talk about the value of horns in the most general of terms.  But, you do have a professional quality instrument and the wireless rim is also a value adding feature.  Beyond that, I would recommend that you watch completed auctions on eBay for similar instruments to get a sense of its value.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
