Question
I have recently acquired a silver trumpet that is Engraved on the bell with Windsor Elkhart, IND, USA. I would like to know how old it is and maybe if I could track ownership. It does have a serial number on it of R9914

Answer
I don't believe there is a serial number list for Windsor instruments which were made by the Buescher company's subsidiary The Elkhart Musical Instrument Co.   Elkhart was started in 1924 so it is no older than that, but most likely considerably newer.
