Question
Hi, my Name is Frank, sorry for bad English, I'm writing from Germany.
I have an old Rudolph Wurlitzer Lyric Alto, it seems to be very old, there is no serial number on it, just a Made in Germany.
Do you know anything about it?

Answer
My area is not woodwinds, but I can tell you this much.  It was probably imported into the United States after 1923, and stenciled by the Wurlitzer Company.  It is interesting that it made it back to Germany again.  Lyric was a model name that Wurlitzer for a number of their instruments, and at least in cornets - they are pretty good playing instruments.

Rudolph Wurlitzer founded the company in 1856, as an import business and opened sales outlets in all big American cities.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
