Antique Musical Instruments/York Trombone

Question
About 8 years ago i came upon a silver york trombone at a salvation army and paid about $25 for it.  I've check the York records and dated the trombone to 1922-1923 by the serial number.  It has some brass and copper inlay in a design around the bell and is in fairly good condition. Im guessing its not worth much but im curious about an estimated value.

Answer
I wouldn't care to try to make an estimate, but I would suggest that a relatively accurate way to make that determination is to watch the completed auctions on eBay for similar instruments.  That would be a pretty good way to get an idea.

York made quality stuff, though old trombones aren't as popular as old valved instruments.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
