Question
Mr. Scott I have a 1926 BUESCHER alto saxaphone, it is silver and nickel with mother of pearl keys it is in excellent condition with all the parts except the original neck strap the case is also in good condition. My question is how much is it worth and where would I look to sell it for the best price  Thank you

Answer
Mr. Price,

Buescher made a good horn, but for some reason the vintage Bueschers don't seem to be as popular as the Conns and Martins.

I wouldn't even hazard a guess as to value.  But, normally eBay will give you a fair price for instruments.  Sometimes, one gets undersold, but not often.  And, usually, that is because the pictures or the description is not good.

That having been said, I have observed here lately that horns are not selling as high as normal.  I don't know whether it is the time of year or what.  But, I would sort of watch eBay and when horns are going to a little more, then would be a good time to try to sell it.

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
