Question
I am hopeing you might be able to tell me the cost of instrument we found in my grandmothers attic. There is a paper in side that says
banjo-lin Heiser MFG Co Fort Smith Ark $25.00.
It is rectaingle in shap larger then a computer key board and has about 15 strings My grandmother is moving and has a great deal of debt we hopeing sell it on e-bay or over the internet for a far price.

Answer
Hi,

My area is supposed to be brass instruments, but it sounds to me that you may be describing an autoharp.  I don't know the name Heiser.  Consequently, I have no idea of its worth.  You may want to do a search on eBay for autoharps or zithers, and see if what you have looks similar.  And, then use the prices for which they go as a guide.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
