Question
QUESTION: i have a buescher trumpet/coronet the seriel# is 17803.can anyone give me any info on this instrument and is it worth restoring, presently it is in ok condition.

thanks in advance

joe

ANSWER: Yes, it is worth bringing up into good condition.  Yours dates back to 1912.

Now the only thing that may impact on that is whether it plays at low pitch (modern pitch) or not. That can be adjusted as well, but it would add to the expense.

Buescher made good instruments, and were aimed at the professional market of the day.

QUESTION: thanks for the speedy reply

do you know who specializes in restorations of these instruments.

thanks again

Answer
Well it sort of depends on 1) where you live, and 2) what all is wrong with it.  More likely than not, I won't know anyone local to you, but if you want to send pictures of the horn, I can at least get a sense of what it needs.  Send to Kenton@punxypa.com

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
