Question
have you ever heard of the king cleveland 605 with f trigger trombone? I recently purchased one on e bay.  my 9 yr old plays trombone and he wanted an older one to play. What is the best way to polish and try to restore the finish. Do you know where I can get parts for it.

Answer
I know the horn. What I don't know is the condition of your particular instrument.  If the lacquer is mostly gone, then I would recommend removing it completely, and then you can polish it with Brasso or a similar brass polish.  (in my opinion, the play better without lacquer)  Otherwise, soap and water is the best way to clean it.

A instrument repairman should be able to get replacement parts for it.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
