Question
I found an old Lyon Healy trumpet can find any info on it can you help?It has a number on it #4525. Looks like it is silver but is tarnished. Can you help. I can send you a picyure if you need to see it.

Answer
The Lyon and Healy company records were destroyed by fire about a century ago.  We have done some exploration of the Lyon and Healy serial numbers, but so far with only tentative results.  If your horn is an Own Make model, it should be about 1904.  But it appears other models may have used other numbering sequences.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
