Antique Musical Instruments/supertone trumpet/cornet

Question
I recently found a trumpet/cornet in my grandmothers attic. It appears to be a silver/silvertone material. The only markings are an etched design with supertone in the center. Also just below the mouth piece it is stamped bohemia. Can you tell me anything about it, such as manufacture date and by whom. It also has the original hard case with it, but no markings there either. I can't seem to find anything about supertone instruments (except guitars) online.

Answer
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, I'm having internet problems.

Supertone was a name used by Sears, Robuck & Co., for imported instruments.

There were a lot of companies making instrument in the Bohemian area.  One of the most prolific was Bohland and Fuchs.  Sometimes, their instruments have a B&F on the valves casing.

Sears had instruments supplied from a variety of sources.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
