Antique Pianos/1949 Willis Loius XV upright

Question
We just inherited a 1949 Willis Louis XV style upright piano with a "Louis XV De Luxe" sound board.  The serial number is 41850.  It's in average condition needing a tuning and a general servicing.  It spent it's life since new in a humid climate and now is in a very dry climate in the west.  What should we do to protect this instrument from the drastic climate change and roughly what would be the value of this item?  Thanks.

Answer
Hi,

Thank you for contacting us. I would suggest getting a thermostat with a humidity gauge. Ideally a piano should be in a room with humidity in the low 40's. I would suggest getting a humidifier if it is moving into a dry climate. In our current economic and musical climate, we estimate your piano to be valued at around $500-800 depending on the casing of the piano. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.

Sincerely,
Robert Parker
