where can I get some information and original pictures of inside and out for a mosler safe number 87161. has been painted and shelving is missing

Jim,

There is no information available that would let you know what your safe "originally" looked like.  Your safe was made around 1889 and there are no factory records available.

I can probably send you some pictures of some other Mosler safes, or some basic ideas for your safe, but it really depends on how much detail that you want.
As far as the interior goes, have your cabinet maker, design something that is going to be functional for your safe.  If you are going to use it as a wine locker, do a nice cabinet that will hold several bottles of wine, etc.  Or for after a fancy dinner, impress your guests by opening your safe for your cigar humidor and special liquors.
If you have the safe in your billards room, it would make a great place to keep those special racks of billard balls.
I think that you get the idea.  Any interior that is functional and looks nice will improve the value of the safe.  It doesn't have to be original.
