Question
I have an old Brass City Printery Safe, Sold by Ben J. Holt, Lowell, Mass. It is a large cast iron combination lock floor safe. Can you tell me anything about it?

I hate good news/bad news responses, but you are my lucky respondent for today!
You don't have a "Brass City Printery" safe. Brass City Printery is a printing business in the Waterford, CT area, since 1916. They were probably the initial owners of the safe.

I don't have any listings for Ben J. Holt, Lowell, Mass, as a safe distributor, however this may have been a supplier of office equipment or a distributor.
Many older safes were re-labled with the sellers name (for advertising) and the original customers name on the safe. I literally see a dozen safes such as this each week.
You have a couple of options to find out more about your safe; first you can send me photos of the safe so that I can identify it. I'll need full exterior and interior photos, and detail photos of the dial, handle, hinges, castors lock and boltwork, cabinetry, art work and any special features or damage.
Your second option would be to contact the "Brass City Printery" and see if they have any information concerning the safe.
