Question
QUESTION:  I just bought a old safe with a newer mosler combination lock group 2 no. B-263565 is the top number and BP-216 underneath.I was looking for a few of the internal parts or a whole new or used assembly. If you you could steer me in the right direction I would appreciate it

Thanks
Baron

ANSWER: Baron,

Those parts are not available, and haven't been for 20-30 years.  Your options include putting a complete new lock on.
Many of the Mosler locks used a 1/4"x40 threaded dial spindle.  The standard is 5/16"x40.  Check the threads on your dial spindle so we can determine what lock to replace yours with.
The second item to check is the mounting screw pattern and spindle hole measurements.  Get these measurements for me and I'll see what I can recommend.

QUESTION:  I checked the measurements and the dial spindle is 5/16. The spindle hole is 5/8 and the mounting holes are 2 3/8 on the top and the side is approximetly .950

Thanks
Baron

ANSWER: Baron,

Sounds like a standard lock will fit, and you should be able to use the original dial and dial ring.  From the outside the safe will look the same.  Keep the old lock in case you ever find a replacement lock.

QUESTION:  Andy I am sorry the side mounting holes are 1.950 not .950.

Thanks

Answer
Baron,

The lock that you have is probably a Mosler B101/103, MR98, or a K120 series lock.  Unfortunately these are not the standard footprint and are all obsolete locks.

The standard foot print is as follows:

mounting holes:
side to side:  1.620"
front to back:  2.620"

Dial/spindle hole is centered side to side, or 0.810
from center of rear mounting holes forward:  0.70"
from center of front mounting holes back:  1.920
Spindle thread is:  5/16"x40 tpi.
The critical measurement is going to be from the center of the spindle hole to the tip of the lock bolt.  New lock is 2.70".  Your lock is probably 2.20" or less.

Using the measurements above, look at the area that the lock is currently mounted in to see if you have room for the newer lock.
I will look around my parts room, now that I have an idea of the lock size that you are looking for.
If you can send me pictures of the lock, that you have it should make id-ing it easier.
