Answer
Steve,

Macy's was not a manufacture.  I suspect the safe was probably a Diebold, Mosler or HHM, though there are others also.  Macy's was probably the original owner of the safe and had their name stenciled on the front of the safe.

I would need to see pictures of the safe to come up with the manufacture and also to approximate the age.

Value is very succeptible depending on many things including but not limited to:
Manufacture, style, age, construction, condition and history.

I would need to see photo's of the safe to determine the manufacture and give you an educated guess to the age.  I can also give you a rough retail value of the safe based on the photo's.  Photo's need to include full pictures of the interior/exterior and detail photo's of the dial, handles, hinges, wheels, locks, bolt work, interior, any art work or pin striping, and any special features.

Weight is relative; anything in the 1000 to 4000 lb range would be "standard", less than 1000 lbs, small, above 4000 lbs, large.  In excess of 8,000 lbs would be extra large, above 10,000 lbs would be extremely large.

Send me the photo's so that I can give you more details.
