I have a York & Lock Co.safe,Serial # L3237. Can you tell give any info. about age and value. Thanks

Hi Bud,

Your York cannonball safe is probably 1920's vintage.  In its current condition it has a value of $0.  In fact someone might charge you to haul it away.  It does have scrap value, but I'm not sure what the price per pound is.

That being said.  If this safe was saved and refurbished it could be worth between $5000-$15,000, depending on the level of restoration, and the number of regular buyers as opposed to motivated buyers available.

A number of years ago I saw the Bank of America vault warehouse, take a Mosler cannonball in similar shape.  After 3 years of work, new paint, chrome, gold plating, etc. it was a work of art.

Good luck and I hope you decide to save this old safe from the scrap heap.
