Question

Dubin Safe
I would like to know the value of a Dubin Co. safe.  Made in Philadelphia.  I can only estimate it to be 50 yrs old, since that is how long I can remember it being in my parents store.

Answer
Marlene,

Dubin was probably just a distributor or reseller.  Your safe is a "Safe Cabinet Company" safe, these were manufactured until 1926 when they were bought by Remington-Rand.  The label was continued as Remington-Rand, Safe Cabinet Labratories, and Victor, though I don't know if they made safes for Victor or if there was a merger.  These safes were made up through the 1950's.  They were basically "office equipment", they have no collectible value, other than it belonged to your parents.  It may also contain asbestos as an insulation medium.

Value:
Fire & Burglary     $0     This safe does not meet current burglary or fire standards and should not be used for overnight storage of cash, jewelry or valuable documents.
Resale              $0-$300     Because of the asbestos it has a ver low resale value
collectible or antique value:     $0     This safe in not collectible or antique.

Sorry for the bad news about the value, but hopefully this will give you some guidance.
