Question
I have a 1950 Herring-Hall-Marvin postal safe and need to obtain the combination to the inner safe.  The serial number is: 241022
Item # 280. The inner safe has "Sergeant" on the dial label

There are no records available for combinations from manufactures.  They never published this information and most of the records were lost when they went out of business.
HHM was in business from 1892-1959, they have been out of business for 50 years now.

If the safe is locked up then you will need to contact a safe technician to have the safe opened and repaired.  Cost will be in the range of $350-$500.

The lock is by the Sargent & Greenleaf lock company.  All of their locks are shipped on a neutral number and the combination would be set when the lock was installed by the manufacture or when sold to the first customer.
