Question
Hello , I purchased a foreclosed home and in it is a amsec Model L 702 safe. from left to right is a latch handle a numbered key hole and a dial combination. My question is what does the key do ? Is it an overide, does it unlock the dial so you can dial the combo, unlock the latch handle. thanks and I am waiting patiently for your book. Thank you, Happy Holidays, Respectfully, David

Answer
David,

AMSEC does not have an L702 in their current catologs so it must be a discontinued model.

Generally the key only acts as an override on the electronic locks.  If you have a manual dial, then you would have to dial your combination and operate the key locks in order for the handle to turn.
It shouldn't matter which lock you do first as the handle will not operate unless both are unlocked.

If you need further help with this safe, or keys (or even the original combination), contact AMSEC at 1-800-421-6142, ext. 1036.  They will probaly have you go through me anyway, but they will be able to accurately answer your questions about this safe.

I'm still working patiently on the book.  I'm still finding companies, and info, and photos.  Compiling and choosing what pics to use in the books is daunting as I can't possibly use them all, but I still need representative pics to illustrate what ever point I'm making with the photo.  It's a fun project but a long term one.
