Antique Safes/parts availability to repair safe

Question
Hello Terry
I have an older safe maybe around the 1940's but I'm not sure.
The make is a "Defender Safe" by Hillsberg Co. out of Syracuse NY.
The approximate dimensions are 25" tall, 16" wide and 16" deep and sits on 4 wheels. The inside has 2 small steel draws on the left side. On the combination dial is the "Eagle" name. On the handle are 4 stamped numbers which are 3345. The safe was drilled out with one small hole about a 1/4" in diameter, so it no longer locks. I think it is missing an arm and spring that drops down to keep you from opening it unless you dial the combo to "retract this arm. Is this close to how the lock works? Are parts available to fix this safe? I can send pictures if needed.
Thank you for your time.

Answer
Richard,

No parts are available.  Eagle has not made parts in over 40 years.  Your choices are extremely limited and it depends on how much you want to spend to restore this safe.  You will either have to manufacture any missing parts yourself, or have someone manufacture them for you.

I would have to see pictures of this safe to determine whether or not I would recommend spending the time, money or effort to fix the safe, but ultimately this would be up to you.

You can send your pictures to me at:  andy@securitysafeusa.com
