Question

Mosler safe
I have an old Mosler safe that I am going to have restored.  The outside is in very bad condition so I thought I would have it sand blasted and then repainted. I have the name of a company to put the gold leaf lettering and markings on.  However, there was a 5 x 7 picture -- that I think is a landscape with possibly a lake in it.  The picture is in such bad shape that I really can't tell.  I do want to have a new one painted and would like to make it as close to the period as possible.  Also, I would like to be as accurate as possible with the colors of the various markings.  I have tried to find other pictures of Mosler safes but am not having any luck.  Do you know where I could get samples?
Thank you for your help.

Answer
Kathy,

I can probably send you some pictures of what some of the safes looked like, however most of my pictures are not up close pics.  What I would suggest, if you are going to completely restore the safe would be to find a scenery that you like and have the painting of this area.  The safe will mean that much more to you.  The majority of this style of art work, was oil paintings, and just like real oil paintings, every one was different.  Even if the interior day door has a similar painting it will still be different.

I'll look through my photos to see what I have.  I'll need an email addres to send them to.  Send me a note at:  andy@securitysafeusa.com and remind me what you need.
