Question
hi my dad has a large safe(H28"W22"D22") which someone gave him but my mam want rid of it as they will be downsizing their property soon just wandering if anyone had a clue to its value thanx emma

Answer
Emma,

We don’t evaluate safes without seeing them.  Two safes manufactured at the same time may be worth totally opposite amounts today, based on their conditions.  We try to be as objective as possible, but ultimately the value is determined by the motivation of the buyer and seller.  Also, be advised that our evaluation is based on current prices that I see in the USA, specifically the west coast.  They may not reflect accurately prices that you would find in the UK.

You may want to check with some local sites that are more familiar with current prices in the UK.  Here are a couple of sites:
http://www.safeman.org.uk/aboutsafes.htm
http://www.boboantiques.com/antique-safes.html
http://www.bada.org/page/2432

NOTE:  This is our evaluation not yours.  Everyone thinks that their little “rust bucket” is in mint condition.  We may also offer some ideas for restoration to help you out.

In order to rate or evaluate your safe, I'm going to need photos.  They should include full exterior and interior.  Detail photos should include pictures of the dial, handles, hinges, artwork, locks, bolt work, castors, cabinetry and any special details or damage.  Note:  You may have to remove the back panel on the door to gain access to the lock & bolt work – I will need these pics.

Please use as high a resolution as possible.  Pictures which are low resolution, out of focus, or from a distance don’t help when we try to evaluate the container.

Please send all of the requested photos to:  andy@securitysafeusa.com
