I bought a house that came with a safe because the previous owners didn't have the means to move this safe. I want to sell it and wondered if you can give me a round about value... The date on the safe is September 16, 1890. It says Cary Safe Co. Buffalo NY.....and Hubbard and Richardson. It is 6 feet tall, 44 in wide, 34 in deep. It has two doors each with a combination on them, the inner doors are 4 inches thick, and the outer doors are 6 inches thick. There is a little bit of rust on the outside but the previous owner took excellent care of and continued to use the safe. He even used gel silica packets inside the safe to absorb the moisture. You have an interesting safe - it appears to be a Bankers safe - harder to sell because of the size and weight, but definitly worth its weight in $$$?  Don't pay to much attention to the date, it is probably a patent date, all this tells you is that the safe couldn't have been manufactured prior to this date.  Pat'd dates would show up on safe for 20-30 years after the original patent date, or until a new patent was issued.

In order to identify, evaluate or appraise your safe, I'm going to need photos.  They should include full exterior and interior.  Detail photos should include pictures of the dial, handles, hinges, artwork, locks, bolt work, castors, cabinetry and any special details or damage.  Note:  You may have to remove the back panel on the door to gain access to the lock & bolt work – I will need these pics.  If you have a particular detail that you have a question about, I will need a photo of it.  Also pay close attention to the outer hinge acorns - are the a heavy cast material or a light weight, hollow sheet tin or brass?

Please use as high a resolution as possible.  Pictures which are low resolution, out of focus, or from a distance don’t help when we try to evaluate the container.  Note:  with higher resolution, you may only be able to send 2-4 pictures per email, depending on the size of the file.  If photos are larger than 2mb each, you may only be able to send two per email.
