Antique Safes/who was the artist for Diebold

Do you have clean samples of their work?

I have a listing of six (6) individuals who were listed as painters, artists and ornamental painters, between 1880 to at least 1898.   Unfortunately there are no records which would indicate who painted what on any particular safe.   I would love to have a more complete history by serial number, of the safes that they worked on, but todate haven't found any listing.

They are:
Julius O. Weber (1883-1886), listed as an Ornamental Painter
Ferdinand Kline (1881-1884), listed as an Ornamental Painter
Frank W. Jay (1886-1896), listed as an Ornamental Painter
Emil Bott (1880-1896), listed as a landscape, portrait and ornamental painter.
Joseph Gross (1883-1898), listed as an Artist and Ornamental Painter
August L. Hoeland (1881-1886), listed as an Ornamental Painter

I'm sorry that I can't narrow it down any further but if you have artwork on your safe, it may be possible to compare it to any artwork that may be attributed to one of the above artists.

I haven't done any research on these individuals, other than their association with Diebold, so you are on your own on this one.   Eventually, I may do more research in this area to have available at a later date.

Hope this helps give you a starting point.
