Answer
Jim,

I'll start off with the "Safe Manufacturers National Association" label.   This was a standards agency similar to UL, but for safes only.   The information that you have provided off of your container indicates the following:

1.  Specification "F2-ND"  -  This is a fire insulated container (NOT a safe).
2.  Classification "D"  -  this is a one hour fire resistive (HEAT) container, without impact testing.

These containers were basically considered portable document containers (like a small filing cabinet), and are NOT considered to be a safe or a secure device.

Your container was made during the late 1940's through the early 1960's.    Sorry I can't narrow down the date more than this, but you didn't provide any photos of your container, and the manufacturer never released any serial number information - no records are available.

As this container is OVER 50 years old, it does NOT meet any current standards for fire resistance and should NOT be used for storing any valuable documents, cash, jewelry or similar items - UNLESS it is secured inside of a current model safe which does meet standards for fire and burglary resistance.

This container has no retail or resale value, is not an antique, nor is it considered collectible.

If you have any specific question, I would be happy to answer them for you.

Hope this helps,

Antique Safes
