Antique Safes/Vault Door

I am on the hunt for a pre 1950 vault door that has intricate detailing on the interior mechanism and a flat glass door covering that mechanism. In my research I have come across the Mosler 60 31/2, which seems to be about the end of their "classic" doors right before they went to a very modern (and much more boring look). The project I am working on doesn't necessarily require the door to be working or actually have the surround. Do you ever hear of vault doors that get separated from their surround. Obviously, that severely decreases their utility, but would work for my project.

Generally, the answer is "NO"!   If the doors are removed from their frames, then they are generally scrap metal.   Safe and vault companies have no use for doors which are not considered useable.
Again, while I'm sure this does happen, no one keeps these doors as they have no use.

As far as WHAT doors are available, you would simply need to contact numerous safe & vault companies to find out what they might have available.

If the door has little resale value, or if it doesn't meet current standards for vault doors, then vault companies don't hang on to them - they aren't in the business of selling non-rated or antique type doors.

In order to be of more assistance, I would need a better understanding of WHAT your project is and what your plans are.   Once I have a better idea, I might be able to point or direct you towards a possible solution.
