Any help with the possible use or origin of this piece would be much appreciated.

Hi Joel,

this isn't a safe plaque.   If it was it would have the name of the safe company on it.

PROBLEM:   ANY company, throughout the UK (or possibly other European countries), that wanted to indicate that they were an authorized manufacturer of items for the royal family would have a "warrant or patent" to use the crest.    All of the items that they manufactured would have the crest, either as a plaque or a decal emblem.

Having a crest with no name on it - jumps out to me as a possible fake.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of companies that want to sell stuff (furniture, etc.), as something more than it actually is.    And as there are a lot of people who would jump at the chance of having the same foot stool that the Queen sits on, but at 1/100th the price - they would buy it, without out checking for ANY documentation.

Without more info - and based on the photos that you have provided, I have to guess that it is possibly a fake.

My recommendation would be to continue researching to find out more about it.   But without having a name, and having it removed off of what ever it was affixed to, chances are you will never find out.
