Yes, it's old. Yes, I have the combo. Yes, it's tumblers still glide like butter. I think it's from the 1960s. Any idea how much this would be worth? And how to get ride of it?

You are correct, your container is most likely from the 1960' through early 70's.

Generally these containers go for between $200-$400 depending on the overall condition - NOT just how smoothly the lock seems to operate.

As far as how to get rid of it - most safe companies will probably charge you to haul it away, so unless you really need it to go away, this probably isn't what you want to hear.

Your other options include advertising, advertising, advertising.    Ebay and craigs list are alternatives, however, I would recommend your doing some price shopping at Costco, Home Depot or other similar type outlets, that might sell small safes.     Pricing is going to be in the $250-$500 range for brand new containers - of similar size.    So it would make it rather difficult for you to sell a possibly 40-50 year old container for a similar price.

If you need it to go away, then you need to be willing to reduce the value significantly to entice a potential buyer.

Sorry, I wish the news was better.
