Antique Safes/Royal Safe

We have a Royal safe.  Serial or model number 261922. It also shows a "C" classification on the door.  We run the numbers and the turns and the safe will not open.  Any suggestions?  Do you know any reliable people in the Wilkes-Barre, Pa area that could help us open the safe.  Thanks  Bill

Hi William,

Generally there are ONLY three reasons that a safe lock will not open, in order they are:
1.  Incorrect sequence, operator error.
2.  Incorrect combination, wrong numbers,
3.  Mechanical problems.

First question would be - When was the last time you opened the safe????
Have you verified that the numbers are correct???    You would be surprised how many times I get similar questions only to discover that either they are using the wrong numbers or the combo to a different safe.
Make sure that you are dialing the combination correctly.
When was the last time the lock was serviced.   If it has a "Class C" fire rating, then your safe is over 50 years old.   If you have never had it serviced, this could be a major part of the problem.

There are several good safe techs within about 70 miles of you, but I'll give you the closest, if he can't help, he might be able to refer you to someone else.
