Antique Safes/lost combination

During a whole house remodel we misplaced the combination to our old Sears safe. It was made by Underwriters' Laboratories and has a fire classification of C.  My understanding from responses to other questions regarding lost combinations is that I will need to contact a safe company in my area to request a certified safe technician.  My zip code is 30116, can you provide me with the list of reputable safe companies in the area. Thank you.

Hi Elizabeth,

Sears purchased safes from several different companies to resell under their name.    Pretty much all of these companies have gone out of business.     Your safe was NOT manufactured by Underwriters Laboratories,   UL is simply a testing agency - in this case they tested similar safes for a "classification C" fire rating, which is basically 1 hour fire resistant.

While you don't necessarily need a "certified" safe technician, you still need a trained safe technician.

The closest safe tech that I would recommend would be:

Protection Lock and Equipment
770-436-0302          Ron Snively
2347 Beaver Creek Road
Smyrna, GA 30080

Ron is about 50 miles away.   There may be some closer companies, but no one that I personally know or would recommend.   Ron may have some recommendations for you.    If you can take the small safe to him it would save you any travel fees.

Hope this helps,
