Anxiety Disorders/OCD - Peeing Obssession?
Expert: Jeanne Rust, PhD - 10/29/2011
QuestionThis is very embarrassing for me to talk about but I'm at my wits end and don't know what else to do. I strongly believe that I have OCD. I have suffered with anxiety/panic/and other mental disorders along that line my whole life so I know OCD just comes with it. I am also gay. My boyfriend and i have been together for almost two years now. I have also always had a urine fetish. My boyfriend is aware of this fetish and also that I have OCD and other anxiety disorders. We have also experimented with the urine fetish that we both share, and we both liked it. However, my OCD has apparently decided to attack my fetish, it seems. For the past several months I have been obssessed over when my boyfriend is urinating. He would always stay on the phone whenever he would go and it always drove me crazy. I didn't make me "horny" per-say but it was overly exciting...like i had to pace and obssess over it. Now, especially while he's at work, I pace constantly and continue to look at the clock and wonder if he has peed yet, or what time he could be doing it...It's like an obssession! It's driving me nuts! It's causing me to start fights with him just so he will be mad at me and won't talk to me for that day, just so I can have some relief from this obssession. I'm constantly thinking about it and it drives me nuts! What should i do? its beginning to effect our relationship! I opened up to him about this issue and he has been supportive by not "triggering" me over the phone by saying things like "i have to piss" or peeing over the phone. But I still obssess over when he could be doing it at work, I constantly watch the clock and imagine him doing it and wonder what time he is doing it! I'm going insane!! Please help me! Advice?
AnswerDear Zane,
My advice to you is to go to a psychiatrist right away. You need a professional to help you deal with your OCD and that of your partner. There are many new medications on the market that have almost no side-effects and if taken for a short time, can help tremendously!!
I hope this helps!
Warmly,
