Question
Sir,
My brother is a 28 yr old male with anxiety and in attention. He says he also has flight of ideas but no intrusive thoughts. He never cries nor he is depressed. He also has worrying insomnia. He does not want to go to a doctor. He believes he has GAD.  He and myself have done extensive research in these fields. We strongly believe CBT would be a great choice.
Do you agree with us that anxiety can be totally overcome by CBT without help of SSRI or benzos? What aspects of thought process should we focus on ? He is very very reluctant and would not seek help except me.

Thanks in advance sir.
Ricky.

Answer
HI ricky,

Mood disorders including anxiety and depression are easier treat than  appears to the eye. Most people with mood disorders are hypoglycemic, hence the first step in treatment is going on a hypoglycemic diet. Please read:

and discuss with a Nutritional Doctor, Clinical Nutritionist or Nutritional Psychotherapist. Most people can overcome the problem by adopting the hypoglycemic diet (See our web site).
