Question
QUESTION: Hi, I am 17 years old male and I've been experiencing worst kind of anxiety and It all started few days back. I fear that I might be a pedophile which is sick and shameful to me. I am having thoughts of children, and that I might harm them. I never had these thoughts before in my life. I know that I am attracted to girls of my age or order but still I can't reason with it. And also, I masturbate to older women. These thoughts make me hate myself and I can't control them. They keep coming back, it's hard to ignore them. I feel really terrible. Is it the OCD?

ANSWER: Hi Shhnawaz,

You are just at an age when you are going through a sexual revolution within your body. If you are masturbating - which is very natural for most men when single - and think of adult women, it means that you have natural inclination towards women and not children. In order to normalise your hormones and hence your way of thinking, I suggest that you go on  hypoglycemic diet.  Read:

QUESTION: So These unwanted thoughts(which causes anxiety) are the result hypoglycemia? I also read in a forum where a person was the going through the same condition but it was the special kind of  OCD called Pedophilia OCD, which makes you think that you are pedophilie and you might harm a childern. Could it be the same in me? I mean, these thoughts don't make any sense to me. I know that I am not attracted to childern but still my mind creates a cloud of doubts which trigger anxiety and hunts me to death!

Thanks.

ANSWER: Yes you could be quite right. Obsessive thoughts are driven along by stress hormones (adrenaline and cortisol). Besides stress hormones are focussing hormones, it forces you to focus on the fearful things or thoughts, whether you like it or not.. Read:

QUESTION: I read your blog and adopted hypoglycemic diet. I also took vitamin B12 pills. I think, my anxiety is drop slowly and thanks to you - I can now enjoy my life :) again. And one last question: How long will it take my brain to get rid of these thoughts completely?

Answer
Nutritional therapy may take some time depending on the individual circumstances. If you have not taken any drugs it my take about three months. But if you have been taking drugs and this depends on the type of drugs and for how long, it may take much longer, because drugs may have damaged receptors for neurotransmitters. This can be repaired with a high protein diet.
Also investigate the remedy of taking GLYCERINE (http://www.hypoglycemia.asn.au/2011/research-evidence-for-hypoglycemia-part-3/#G) to reduce symptoms. Glycerine does not cure the illness but helps, as a temporary measure to reduce them, whilst you are on the hypoglycemic diet.
