What's the latest news on Fiona Apple - not celeb sightings or anything, but musical news... is she working on an album, is there an album due out anytime soon etc... ?

Hi.  :-)

After what seems like an eternity of absolutely no news about Fi, things are starting to trickle in lately.  Let's see.

Fiona has began recording her 3rd album.  This was confirmed by her drummer, Matt Chamberlain.  On his official site, mattchamberlain.com, on 6-28-02, he says that he just went back into the studio with her, and that she is writing amazing music!

Another source that confirms that Fiona has started recording her 3rd album is from Shirley Manson's online diary from the Garbage website.  Dated May 25th, here is a direct quote from Shirley herself:  "It was exciting talking to Matt [Chamberlain] cause he's about to go into the studio with one of my absolute favourite singers, Fiona Apple!!!! I am DYING to hear what she does next. Her voice makes me wicked jealous and gloriously happy all at the same time."

The April 2002 Spin magazine and February 2002 issue of Entertainment Weekly both report that Fiona could have a CD released by the end of this year.

Also, Fiona will be featured on Johnny Cash's new CD, due out November 5th.  She sings a cover of Simon and Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water."

It's all very exciting.  I just can't wait to hear about a release date for this CD that she is apparently hard at work on!!
