I am thankful to you for such an intelligent question.
First of all you should keep in mind that in all major religions of world there is concept of only one God. But there are many gods in different religions of world.
Take Hinduism for example. Hinduism has a concept of 33 crore gods so finding out one best god out of all these 33 crore gods requires that we should have authentic biographies of all these 33 crore gods and these biographies should include each and every minute detail of there life so that we can compare all these 33 crore gods and find a most suitable candidate for to be the best god.
But the problem is that we don't have such deep and authentic record. The existing biographies of these gods are no more than mythology, no logical man can ever believe them, so they are not reliable.
But even such an authentic record were present then still it was impossible for us to find a best god out of 33 crore gods because it will require a through analysis of all the 33 crore biographies, each of which may consist of many volumes.
Suppose the biography of each god consists of only three volumes (although three volumes are not sufficient to provide a detailed character sketch of a person and particularly a god who had performed so many heroic deeds in his life and had fought so many wars) then we will have to do an analysis of nearly one billion (10000000000) books. No one has such a long life to perform such an analysis by himself and find a best god and then worship him. Even a large organization or institution will not be able to analyze one billion books and then find a best god because this organization will have people having different opinions, one person will like one character of a god and the other will dislike it and so they will not be able to decide that which one is the best god.
I think you have got my point. By believing in one God you will relieve all this headache. You will not have to do all this huge analysis and worship so many gods separately because these so many different gods will have different desires ( and many gods have revelry with each other) so pleasing one god will annoy the other god............Ok!
