HI. this is meena. i have a question about divorce. if ur living in america and you want to get divorce by the american court how do we put show our neeka paper works. if the husband cheats on you and how can u get the money from him from ur neeka??? i dont know if this makes sence what im wrote. but anyway if you could answer it please do so.

Greetings Meena, and thanks for your question.  This is a common concern for couples.

Your neeka document should be recognized as a valid prenupital agreement in any country.  You may need to have it translated accurately in order to show it to the courts.  

A good divorce attorney will be able to help you press your case in divorce court in the United States.  In larger cities or areas with significant Muslim communities, it may be easier to find such a person, but overall look for someone who respects you.

I speak intermediate Arabic; some Hebrew; and am starting Persian (Farsi, Dari). I have led a half-dozen educational delegations to the area for North American groups; and I have led trainings for nearly a thousand international human rights volunteers coming into the area over my years there. I am now working to launch an interfaith peace-teams based human rights organization, hopefully in the next two years. I am also currently editing the manuscript for my first book, a firsthand account of my time in the Middle East
