My family is hosting a girl who is a Korean exchange student.  She has become friends with another exchange student at school...a boy from Lebanon.  They are just friends, but are going to attend the Homecoming dance together.  Our Korean girl is freaked out because the Lebanese boy purchased her ticket to the dance for her.  In Korea, a boy would only pay for a girl's way if they were serious about each other.  What is the culture in Lebanon?  I assume that Lebanon is a more chivalrous country where men are expected to pay for their dates, even if they are not boyfriend/girlfriend.  Thanks for your answer....we just wanted to calm our Korean down a bit.

You don't need to worry about that. It is normal in Eastern cultures. Men always pay for women even if they are not serious. But if you want to know that if he is really serious than you can ask him frankly. It is better. He will NOT mind.
