Arab Culture/Symbology of Peacocks
Expert: Mohammed - 10/9/2006
QuestionI am curious the significance of a peacock in the Arab culture.
My friends father received a gold wired peacock with jewels placed in it after he finished a business deal with them.
And I've seen more than one car with a peacock hanging from its mirror. When I did my own research the only thing that showed up was the Yezidis that seem to be mostly Kurdish. Thank you.
AnswerThere is no significance of the peacock in the Arab culture.
It is only the Yezidis -as you have mentioned- who admire the Satan (devil) and believe that he is the peacock of the angels...[This is against Islam and against what most of Arabs believe]
