Question
why do you think that many of europ and american people see to us as terrorism people , is the wrong from us or from them.

Answer
Greetings Mohammed, and thanks for your question.  I think a lot of it has to do with what's seen on the news (coverage of suicide bombings, demonstrations, and fighting), as well as not having much experience with Muslim and/or Arab culture's many good aspects:  the hospitality, the food, the music, the land, the stories.

What I would say is that in the past five years, while many voices in the media and politics are louder about Muslims and/or Arabs being terrorists, there are also many more people, particularly in the moderate churches, who have made the effort to learn more about the people of the Middle East.  They are not often the people in power, but there is a lot of curiosity here.  I hope that from each side we can work as peacemakers, reaching out to each other and dialoguing with each other, and working together to overcome the suffering and violence so we can have justice and peace.

Hope this helps!

Expertise

I can answer questions on Arab culture, including differences in cultures among Arab countries and sub-groups. I can also answer questions on Christian-Muslim relations, interfaith issues in general, and human rights and peacemaking issues in the Middle East.

Experience

I was a human rights worker for four years in the Middle East, and have spent time in Palestine, Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan. I speak intermediate Arabic; some Hebrew; and am starting Persian (Farsi, Dari). I have led a half-dozen educational delegations to the area for North American groups; and I have led trainings for nearly a thousand international human rights volunteers coming into the area over my years there. I am now working to launch an interfaith peace-teams based human rights organization, hopefully in the next two years. I am also currently editing the manuscript for my first book, a firsthand account of my time in the Middle East
