Question
I don't know how to spell a last name but it sounds like adjudalee. Is there a space like in Mc Laughlin?

Answer
Hi Alicia..

Yes, it must be with the AL, Al-judalee. The reason why some people spell it without is because they spell it the way it sounds. Al-judalee, when you pronounce it you say Ajudalee because the L and the J merge together when you pronounce the word. The right spelling, however has to be with the L because this is how it is spelt in Arabic.

I am a native speaker of the language, particularly interested in classical Arabic. Have practiced and self-studied Arabic for a long time.
