Question
I read about a saint who was from El Meniah in Egypt. Also, there is an ancient gate in Yemen called Al Meniah. What does the word "meniah" mean in arabic?

Answer
Dear William,

The word is not Arabic... I believe the roots can be found in ancient languages like Hieroglyph or Aramaic.

Most proper nouns in the Arabic world are not or Arabic origin, especially city and town names.

Also Egypt has its own history and language perhaps you can ask an Egyptian person.

Sorry but this is all I can help you with.

Cheers,
