Question
Good afternoon,

I was wondering about the meaning of 'Saadiyat Island', the luxurious island Abu Dhabi is developing. In the literature about the island, it says that 'saadiyat' means 'happiness', is this correct? I didn't manage to find it out through a dictionary. (since I know nothing about arabic)

Thank you for your help!

Sophie

Answer
Hi Sophie,

The place you are talking about is Saada Island جزيرة السعادة

not Saadiyat.

And yes Saada means Happiness in arabic. The T in the end is mute you do not pronounce it, like the g in night.

Cheers
