Arabic/arabic-english/english-arabic dictionary

QuestionHi again Samy,
I tried out the online translator. Judging from the little Arabic I know, it seemed to work well. Arabic fonts did appear, and the program seemed to be easy to use. My friend is going to be doing a bit of travelling soon, and he will not always have access to a computer. So, I think that a dictionary in book form (either paper or hardback is fine) would be helpful to him. So, if you know of any good ones, I'd love to know the titles. Thank you for your help.
Peace,
Catherine

-----Question-----
Hi Samy, I'm looking for an Arabic-English/English-Arabic dictionary for my
friend who is just begining to study arabic. His teacher recommended getting
an alphabetical dictionary rather than one organized by Arabic consonal root.
The teacher thought that my friend would have a much easier time looking up
Arabic words if they were listed alphabetically, since he has only learned
some basic conversational Arabic this far.
This is very helpful advice, but I'm having trouble finding reviews of
dictionaries like this. Do you have a recommendation of a good, accurate
dictionary like this?
Thank you very much.
Catherine

Hi Catherine
You can try this link:
It was very helpful for me:
http://translation2.paralink.com/lowres.asp
and tell me:
1- did it work easily? did Arabic fonts appear? Do you prefer paper hardcopy dictionaries?
2- I can also help him translate any sentences for free.. on my email targama@gmail.com
3- he can also use MS Office Arabic version it has a translator and dictionary
If you still have any needs about this I can search again.
Best Regards
Samy
