Answer Hello Lisa
First, I have to tell you that the thing you just want to translate form one language to another language, is something different by defining the meaning of a word from a language to another one. To your question, you must first know when an American uses "Good Luck". After that you should find the phrase when an Arab means the thing which an American means "Good Luck". This is the Collocation. If you want to translate "Good Luck" from English to Arabic, you may not send your mean by the exact translation. So, when an Arab says "Va-Ssalam-o-Alai-kom" or "Va-L-Hamd-o-Le-L-Allah" or "Le-Yahfozak", maybe he means just the thing which the American means as "Good Luck".
Hope you understood.
Mojtaba
